Call for Project Collaboration Proposals
2005-2006
Application Deadline: Friday, May 27th
5pm
It's that time of year again! At CDH, we have begun planning for
2005-2006, with an eye to allocating our resources as well as we
can. As always, you have a vital role to play in the planning. If
you are thinking of undertaking a project on which you would like
us to collaborate during 05-06, now is the time for us to get to
know about it.
There are some things to highlight about this year's application
process, with many thanks to those who made suggestions about
improving things last year.
- We've got some sample
applications from last year on this website.
- You'll also find a word version of the
application, so you can download and use it to write drafts which
you can share with others if you'd like. You will eventually need
to submit the online application, but we hope that it will be a
help to have the word document to work with off-line.
- We hope to collaborate with the Experiential Technologies Center
which supports Scholarly Research, Teaching, Partnerships, K-12
Outreach, and Tool Development.
- We also hope to see projects that will allow us to collaborate
with the Library on an experimental UCLA Instructional Materials
Repository, which may allow us to fund some graduate student
researcher positions.
We encourage projects that reflect collaboration
across traditional disciplinary boundaries, involve student
participation, blended instruction models, or the innovative use of
multimedia. We also encourage applications for CDH assistance in
developing or piloting an idea that you would otherwise be unable
to implement on your own.
Talk of projects can make it seem like we're only
interested in big undertakings. Quite the contrary, if you're
simply thinking of taking the "digital turn" in one of your
classes, we're here to help you with that too. If you feel that the
support you would normally get through the ITC or DTA programs would
not be enough, then please do consider submitting a brief
application.
Most of CDH's funding is for instructional
technology, with a focus on enhancing instruction in non-tutorial
undergraduate classes. Our strategies for supporting research
oriented projects next year include Collaborating with the
Experiential Technologies Center and using our unrestricted funds
to seed work that supports applications for extramural funds. We
also typically seek to group projects when the underlying
technology needs are similar.
If you have questions, please visit our Question and Answer section. And please feel
free to consult with any staff member at CDH.
The deadline for applications this year is Friday,
May 27th at 5pm.
We look forward to hearing from you!
